The boys are back on the diamond swinging
for the fences while others are taking to the grid iron. Cars are once again
racing on track even as rugby down-under is heading for finals. Everywhere you
look in these troubled times, there are contests underway and the crowds may be
cardboard cut-outs, but there is no denying that competitions are being taken
seriously, no matter the contest.
When it comes to technology, competition
couldn’t be fiercer. The potential to get your message before millions of
“eyeballs” has become the main marketing outlet for many in business and for
good reason, there are fewer readers of traditional media and network
television is under real threat from streaming services. Hands up if you have
access to channels from Amazon Prime, Netflix and Disney+? Point is, none of
this is lost on the NonStop community as we watch vendors vie for prominence in
any decision-making situation.
One of the real benefits NonStop users
enjoy is a constantly growing community of vendors. As years pass us by, there
are always new entrants to check out with products of interest to many NonStop
users. Merger and Acquisition activities continue to see the face of the vendor
community change. Reputations are being built even as they are being
discounted. Cooperation between vendors has become more visible and again,
bringing to the negotiation table a much richer variety of options. Vendors too
may change direction to refocus on other systems even as others have their
companies sold to larger corporations whose focus is likewise elsewhere.
If you missed the latest article to be
published in the September issue of NonStop Insider, NTI:
breaking free from the status-quo; embracing the age of insight!
You would have missed reading of how past reputations count for little in
today’s environment looking to better leverage data in this new age of insight.
Vendor commitments count for so much more than in former times as products
evolve to better suit clients’ needs.
For the NonStop community there is nothing
more important that the knowledge that their vendor of preference is as
committed to NonStop as they are. Change Data Capture (CDC) is at the heart of
all that NTI provides. It was NTI who pioneered CDC technology thirty-five
years ago, and even though its competitors followed suite, today it’s not clear
at all that one of these competitive offerings will remain a priority for their
vendor.
Today, it’s not clear to the NonStop
community that NonStop will continue to be a priority for one of those
competitors opening the door to NTI in ways where DRNet® does so much more than just supporting business continuity:
“The message today is all about the arrival of the age
of insight; with CDC we can replicate and transform to input to any popular
analytics process – adjacent, peer or hybrid. We have demonstrated this already
with our introduction of JSON support for replicating from NonStop to
Splunk> and this is only the beginning.”
Competing with some of the best vendors
supporting the NonStop community insures there is never any complacency whether
that be functionality, support or even price. And there really is no better place
to see the competitive side of the vendor community than NonStop focused user
events.
Shortly, where we would have been making
plans to head to Silicon Valley, we will be heading to wherever we set up our
computer – desktop, laptop, tablet or smartphone. There will not be any crowds
or any need to fill the stands with even more cardboard cutouts of enthusiastic
NonStop supporters. We may not even need to know the way to San Jose, as the
song goes, or even a little to the north to Burlingame, but the NonStop team is
assuring us that there will be a very rich program coming to us all, online, and
at a pace we can enjoy. Anywhere in the world, in our time zone, and we can
wear whatever we like to wear!
NTI will be participating and will be
delivering a presentation focused on where DRNet® is headed and where
opportunities to migrate to DRNet® are arising. It just makes sense to look at
DRNet® and, as the presentation abstract highlights:
NTI is taking its DRNet® products deeper into the
NonStop community as it kicks off a major initiative to complement traditional
deployment models with opportunities to leverage DRNet® as SaaS and to
transform the way DRNet® is consumed. DRNet® supports the replication,
distribution, integration and transformation of data to meet whatever
requirements of data generated on NonStop that enterprises demand today!
Renewed interest in DRNet® as a less expensive, single
source provider offering directly supported replacements for alternative
replication technologies has permeated organizational thought processes
culminating in win-win outcomes for technicians, budget-minded folks and
executives eager for clear, tangible motivation to justify change. NTI’s global footprint is expanding and the
NonStop community is encouraged to join the movement.
