Last week – drilling for oil; this week, panning for gold

This weekend it’s off to Leipzig, Germany for the big pan-European NonStop GTUG event featuring all things NonStop. I am about to head off even as I begin winding down for the week – the weekend will be a time for travel and hopefully, I will see many of you in Leipzig as the event kicks off Monday afternoon. If you have as yet not checked the agenda, you may want to do so as it can be found at:

With pre-conference workshops scheduled on Monday afternoon featuring blockchain, it certainly is going to attract considerable interest from the community – if you have missed any of my recent posts to other social media forums you will already know how bullish I am about the future for NonStop with its support for blockchain and distributed ledger technology. What it comes down to is that an important new technology from HPE, with almost no limits to how it can save business money, has hit the marketplace and not just with any product, but featuring HPE NonStop!

When you peruse the agenda, make sure you check out Wednesday morning, 9:15am, as this is when I am scheduled to present on NTI - DRNet ® OPEN for Hybrid IT! I will be up against some stiff competition in that timeslot and I sure would like to see you in the audience – should be a fun and interesting presentation as I will cover some territory that may be new to you. So no, don’t miss it! And of course, I will be available for Q & A following the session just as I am sure you will also be able to find Tim Dunne, Global Sales VP, nearby and equally as willing to answer any questions you may have.

Don’t forget too to check out the May issue of NonStop Insider for the latest feature on DRNet ®

Panning for gold, drilling for oil – striking it rich!

There is so much value in the data resources being collected on NonStop systems today – surely you would like to hear more of how NTI can open them up for greater integration with the rest of your IT? Read the article, come to the session and yes, say Hi! to all of us from NTI who will be in attendance at this years’ GTUG event!

Digging for oil – DRNet is helping NonStop users strike it rich!

NTI has been in business a very long time and has been providing support for NonStop users with its DRNet product set. Among its many customers there are numerous financial institutions relying on DRNet for data replication. When it comes to supporting payments solutions, these financial institutions cannot afford for their systems to be down for any reason and so historically, these institutions have depended upon DRNet to maximize their systems’ uptime, no matter what. However, DRNet offers so much more than just support for disaster recovery and with as much talk as there is today of maximizing the value locked away in the data these financial institutions accumulate over time, the replication capabilities of DRNet are being looked at again for DRNet applicability to integrate.

Texas T! Black gold! It’s time to head south for N2TUG.

The next gathering of the NonStop community will be in Plano, just outside Dallas, Texas. The N2TUG Regional User Group (RUG) will be holding a major get-together with special guest, Jimmy Treybig. For those who may not recall the origins of Tandem Computers, Jimmy was the founder and even today, the community always finds time to listen to what he has to say and this time, he will be talking about “The NonStop Journey!”
Naturally enough, there will be a cocktail reception to follow. RUG events continue to develop momentum and from the anecdotal evidence at hand, each RUG event this year appears to be outdoing the one before. Fresh from returning from GTUG in Leipzig, Germany, where we heard directly from Randy Meyer, VP & GM of HPE Mission Critical Systems, who was well-supported by Franz Koenig, HPE Senior Manager, World Wide Advanced Technology Center & Strategy, there is even more to be discussed at N2TUG.

Events, Summits, Exhibitions and Symposiums – all providing valuable input for NTI!

The June through July period proved rather hectic as one event followed another. As the team returned from Leipzig, Germany, where the GTUG / European NonStop HotSpot 2018 had been held the plans were put in place to spend time with even more members of the Nonstop community. First it was a short trip to join with our good friends in Texas and Oklahoma for the N2TUG NonStop User Group meeting. A matter of a few days later, some of us then went to Las Vegas for HPE Discover 2018 before even more of the NTI team traveled to Palo Alto for the NonStop Partner Technology Symposium 2018.

There is always something new that finds its way on to an agenda and there are always surprises. You don’t have to spend all that much time talking to your colleagues to better understand what was really being said between the lines, as it were. No, this time around HPE and the NonStop management held few punches as the transformation to Hybrid IT continues unabated. The NonStop user community is turning t…
