See you all at the NonStop Technical Boot Camp …

With so much happening across the NonStop community and with even more new ways to deploy NonStop today the talk is definitely all about the “as-a-service” development of late as yes, as surprised as we all may be, it looks to us like NonStop is going to make a contribution to this segment of the marketplace. Who knew? Will it herald the beginning of a new era of NonStop? Will it confuse traditionalists even as it attracts new users to NonStop – it’s definitely a time when you cannot afford to take your eyes off of NonStop even for a minute!

What is coming next from HPE NonStop development and how are they succeeding with what has already been announced and is now being delivered? And more importantly perhaps, is NonStop being considered for inclusion in even more HPE programs for Hybrid IT and yes, the Edge too? Little did the NonStop community fully understand the ramifications of porting NonStop to the Intel x86 architecture but we are all beginning to see for ourselves just how many doors this is opening for future NonStop deployments.

NTI is looking forward to this year’s NonStop Technical Boot Camp. It’s about to kick off in just a few days’ time. Will there be surprises? Will we be shocked to hear of even more products in the development pipeline? According to Tim Dunne, Senior Vice President, Worldwide Sales, NTI, “there is much about which we could speculate but the reality is that NTI wouldn’t be surprised to hear anything at all from HPE. They are driving change through NonStop aggressively and it is becoming even more open as a platform such that it’s hard to ignore NonStop making a play for any market segment down the road. I have to believe there will be many members of the NonStop community putting NonStop under the microscope once again following all that is revealed by HPE”

If you would like to hear more from Tim, make sure you stop by the booth and have your questions ready and there will be daily drawings for prizes too so don’t miss out! Safe travels and we look forward to seeing you all in Burlingame, California next week.

DRNet®/Unified for HPE Customers; On-Prem and “as a service,” NTI delivers!

HPE Discover 2021 may already be a distant memory for some but the messages that were coming out of the event will be resonating with the industry for quite some time. Looking beyond the “age of insight” and even HPE becoming “a world leading edge to cloud platform as a service company,” it is now very much a case of HPE bringing the cloud experience to the enterprise.   Not surprisingly, the byline for this story is the bigger message that the enterprise data center will be with us for a long time. This isn’t to say that cloud service providers will not be making their presence felt in these same data centers, one way or the other, but rather recent events have further reinforced the value proposition of being your own IT master.   With the cloud experience coming to a data center near you, enterprises can benefit from the best of both worlds. The security and robustness from on-prem computing together with all the flexibility that comes with cloud experiences. For th...

NTI – DRNet®; best bet with analytics platform close by!

Half a decade ago IBM illustrated a post to the IBM blog with this schematic. IBM pulled data from 800 plus enterprises and published a report, “Under cloud cover: How leaders are accelerating competitive differentiation.” While we may raise concerns about the age of this report, it does hit the mark in some areas that the NonStop community seek to address – when to use cloud computing and how best to leverage virtualized NonStop and not forgetting just how important analytics have become.  In the coming years, it is HPE’s expectation that the number of enterprises running traditional NonStop versus those running virtualized NonStop (vNS) will likely be about the same. There is every potential that some vNS will find their way into the cloud, but perhaps most important of all, whether in the cloud or not, analytics platform will be close by and looking to access NonStop created data. Are you ready? Are you preparing for such a NonStop world? One observation by IBM, publ...

NTI – it’s a hybrid IT world where DRNet contributes!

Where HPE is taking NonStop today isn’t proving too surprising for the NonStop community. In fact, where NonStop is headed is a direction sorely needed by NonStop customers, big and small. The first step in the journey for NonStop came with the port of NonStop to x86, the migration of the interconnect from proprietary ServerNet to InfiniBand (IB) and more recently, to RDMA over Converged Ethernet (RoCE), and then a second step that saw an even bigger shift for NonStop as HPE complemented current support for physical machines with support for NonStop of virtual machines. Yes, NonStop is on a journey and that journey is going to better align NonStop with the major initiatives within HPE to simplify a data center’s transformation to hybrid IT. Under newly-elevated HPE CEO, Antonio Neri’s, direction HPE has divided itself into three core businesses. The major business (and the most relevant for the NonStop community) is called Hybrid IT and it is comprised of the compute, storage, and d...
